If you met me 10 years ago, you'd have met a person who weighted 280 lbs. I now weight less than half that, and I did it with no weight loss surgery, no drugs, and no special supplements.
Friends and co-workers who saw my transformation started asking me, "What's your secret?" At first I enthusiastically told them about apps I use to track calories and exercise. But they always brushed those answers aside, insisting that I tell them my REAL secret.
At first I was frustrated. I WAS telling them my secrets! A friend finally told me, "Dieting and exercise - everyone tries that, and it doesn't work very well for most people. How come it works for you?"
After a lot of reflection, I finally figured it out. My "secret" is that my transformation wasn't just about weight, nutrition, and exercise. It was about making me the best version of me that I could.
In fact, it wasn't the first time I'd lost a lot of weight. I accomplished a similar goal when I was in my early 20s. I kept it off for about three years, but then it started coming back. Why?
I didn't realize it at the time, but my first weight loss had been all about nutrition and exercise - nothing more. I never addressed the reasons I used food the way I did. I never dealt with the emotional and psychological side of things.
To be successful at weight loss and maintenance, I had to use mindfulness and self-compassion to completely rebuild my relationship with my body, food, and exercise. It did it, and you can too!

Throughout my weight loss journey, I encountered challenges and obstacles. But two of my strengths are a constant growth mindset and my faith.
I relied on these two things to develop an army of "life hacks." I realized early on that if I wanted my changes to last, I needed to make myself enjoy not just the results, but the process itself.
My goal is to share what I've developed. I want to take you from hating your diet and workout and hating yourself for needing them to loving yourself and your lifestyle!
